Seeing the images that Rossella Pezzino de Geronimo exhibits on this occasion scroll in rapid succession on a computer screen, I could not help but remember a passage from the Zibaldone in which Leopardi states that it strikes our imagination most to see the portrait of a person rather than meeting that same individual and getting to know him: the poet attributes to the painter the ability to grasp the soul of the person portrayed by virtue of an introspective sensitivity that allows him to perceive psychological aspects that escape during a fleeting encounter.
